Since being released on the Steam store on May 31st Gaia Project has received 22 reviews from users, with the digital board game currently holding a mixed reviews rating. Players can play a solo game mode against Gaia Project’s AI, or challenge their friends locally or online, including those who may be playing on a different platform. Whichever player manages to develop their faction the most by the end of the game is named the winner. Unlike in most area control games, Gaia Project focuses on peaceful methods of domination, with the players’ chosen factions constructing buildings on whichever planets they choose and mining its resources to further their goals.Įach faction has its own unique environmental requirements which players must adhere to in order to spread their control, with their faction’s special ability potentially aiding them in gaining land, forming federations and trading with other factions. The AI tree (cube tree) is very undervalued as well by new people because cubes are a super versatile resource and getting a supply of then late game does amazing things.Īs a rule, I always tell people to make sure they figure out a way to always have ore and money, because that can get you out of most binds. The digital version of the 2017 board game Gaia Project was released earlier this week to a mixed reception on Steam.Ī video game adaptation of the original tabletop title, Gaia Project sees one or more players attempting to acquire the most power within a galaxy populated by rival factions. I've taking only the first tick on the Gaia Forming track many of time just to get 1-2 planets to make feds for cheap, not abusing the tree. Setup will let you know this by having round points based on it or not, but the 3pts for Gaia planet Tile isn't specifically a reason to go all in on it. Gaia forming really isn't that big of a deal unless you can get lots of points for it. The Automa is great for trying different races in a chill environment, but it will feel like you are behind the whole game. You should have a money/ore engine to start dropping multiple buildings in turns. Turns 5-6 is where the bulk of points and chasing the endgame and tech track points comes in. Your opening 2-3 turns are all about building the engine and setting up for the endgame. Is this typical in this game or no? Will experienced players score much closer or can you see blowouts often? Are round 1 bad moves carried through the whole game?Įdit: thanks for all the tips and suggestionsĪs others have said, picking factions and all that prior to the game starting is super crucial when playing against actual people. I just thought of an idea that we could play coop against the Automa to learn it better together also. you're getting your butt kicked and there isn't anything you can do). Neither of us did a single Gaiaformer though which given the name of the game was probably bad play.Ĭurrently this may be a game that she doesn't play again although I'm trying to convince her to give it one more go (she felt the end game was Monopolyesque-i.e. I got to the top of the knowledge track at round 4 and then ended up with a bunch of extra actions. Basically in rounds 5 and 6 I ended up with a whole bunch more turns than her, and (my bad) I probably poured salt in the wound by racking up extra end game points. Looking through some threads I think both of us didn't play a very optimal strategy, but for my wife, her engine petered out at the end leaving her pretty disappointed. Recently played GP for the first time (have never played Terra Mystica) with my wife. r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subreddit.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games. ![]() Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
